Auto Imports has for over 25 years been helping customers source and import quality cars safely, cheaply, and with a huge variety to choose from. To date Auto Imports  has brought in well in excess of 2,000 vehicles for customers located all over Australia. The majority of our business comes through word of mouth – friends of previous customers, or simply happy returning customers when they are ready to buy another vehicle.

Auto Imports’s History;
Auto Imports was established in 1997 to cover a niche market – at the time Japanese Cars were relatively new to the Aussie market and not many dealers in Australia were specialising in these vehicles.

Our unique insight into the world of exporting from Japan and Importing to Australia gives Auto Imports an advantage on how to avoid all the pitfalls and traps when it comes to buying cars.

Australian Car Import Regulations;
Australia has strict import regulations governing the importation of motor vehicles, these laws are basically set up to protect Australian car manufactures. The restrictions basically state that no-one can import a car from overseas if that car is already manufactured here in Australia, (for example Honda bring the Honda Prelude to Australia, so this means no individual person or company can import a Prelude.)
The only way to bring one of these restricted vehicles into Australia is to have personally owned the vehicle overseas for not less than twelve months, this is known as a personal import and is open to anyone for one car per year. You must have proof of ownership of the vehicle and a passport showing the overseas stay of not less than twelve months. As you can see this is not possible for most people.
There is a lot of red tape involved when importing vehicles, therefore it is always advisable to let someone with the expertise handle the paperwork. For this reason it is very beneficial for an individual to let Auto Imports handle the work for them.
